Overview
This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to use AnswerHub permissions to create a private space that only selected users can view. This is particularly useful for content moderation or editorial and publishing processes.
Information
You can use AnswerHub permissions to create a space that will only allow the content posted in it to be viewed by selected users. This is very useful if you want to create spaces to be used exclusively for content moderation or as a part of an editorial and publishing process.
To create a private space, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Admin and then select Content > Site Structure > Spaces from the sidebar.
- Select the blue Add Space button.
- Create the private Space. You can make the space a stand alone or you can choose to make a child space of some other space by selecting the Parent space from the drop down.
Save your changes.
- Next, navigate to Users & Groups > Manage > Groups and select the blue create a new group button.
- Click on the newly created group name and then select the wrench icon and select permissions
- Find the newly created space and select the wrench again to open the permissions and select Grant all:
- Grant the following permissions to the new group: Anonymous Roles, Standard Roles, Other standard roles, Custom roles:
It will look like this:
- Now navigate to the User group and open the permissions:
- Find the new space you just created and select Revoke all:
- Then revoke the same permissions you granted to the new group: Anonymous Roles, Standard Roles, Other standard roles, Custom roles:
it will look like this:
Please note if your site is public, you will want to revoke the same permissions to the Anonymous group that you made to your users group. If your site is private this step is not necessary.
Your users group will not be able to view the newly created private space, while the newly created group will be able to view the newly created private space!
